Welcome to My Classroom

"What you do on the first days of school will determine your success or failure for the rest of the school year." Harry Wong

First Day of School

Establishing Classroom Management

In order to have an effective and successful year with your students, it is important to establish what you are expecting of them at the beginning of the year. By doing this, it not only helps the students understand what your expectations of them are, but it helps to create a positive structured classroom right away.

Classroom Expectations (The Five P's)

1. Be Positive

2. Be Productive

3. Be Polite

4. Be Prepared

5. Be ResPectful

Assessment and Evaluations

When I was a student in grade 8, I had a teacher that told us that our marks were all at 100% entering the class, and during the year we had to maintain this grade or else it would decrease. As a student I cannot stress how much of a confidence booster this was. By knowing that I had already reached an A+ in the class, made me feel less stressed and anxious about the course work I would have to complete during the year. This is a technique that I hope to use in my own classroom to help my students gain confidence to complete the school year.

Technology in the Classroom

In my classroom, students will be able to explore the wide range of possibilities that the world has to offer. That includes the use of technology for the purpose of learning. There are many ways in which students can immerse themselves in the many possibilities that technology has to offer. For instance, there have been many great things happening in education with the coding systems. Through which students can create their own video game, program the actions of robots, and understand what it means to write code.

Inquiry-Based Learning

I am a teacher who uses an inquiry-based teaching style, where I encourage students to experiment, research, and solve problems using the lessons and skills that I have taught them. I believe that an inquiry-based teaching style is one that will inspire students to pursue life-long learning, whether for academic or professional growth. I enjoy developing engaging and creative assignments, where I allow students to work with their fellow classmates to solve problems and gain investigation skills.
